Some important news for dog owners attending SOAK. I do not make the rules, but it's my job to enforce them.
We love dogs, and we welcome dogs. If you're planning on bringing your canine, there are several things YOU need to know about having your dog at SOAK:
1) All dogs need to be registered.
2) If you do not PRE-register your dog (and just show up at the gate), there will be a fee for bringing your dog into the event. The fee is being waived for the first 20 dogs that are *pre-registered*. We may, or may not limit the number of dogs at the event. TBD.
Please email your full name, dog's name, and vehicle license plate to:
dogs.soak09@burningmanportland.com so we can get you on the list.
3) Your dog must be under verbal command at ALL times.
4) The Law of Karmic Poop. ALL dog owners are responsible for all dog poop *everywhere*. If you bring a dog, then ANY dog poop you see at any time is yours, right then, right there. own it. bag it. Thanks. We love dogs, but we don't love dog poop. 'nuff said.
5) You and/or your dog may be ejected from the event if your canine is a nuisance, ok?

Re: Dog Policy at SOAK
Mon, June 15, 2009 - 6:45 PMWow, this is the first I've heard of this new policy! Thank you so much for posting it, because I probably wouldn't be bringing cash, and due to my work schedule I probably won't get there until late Friday. Yikes, would you send me packing? What if others aren't on tribe and don't hear of this?
I shall pre-register my dogs. Thanks so much for posting this. I hope word to dog owners gets out. I'll text my circle of friends. -

Mon, June 15, 2009 - 11:26 PMSO if I step in poop at SOAK, I am blaming it on Munky's dogs. -

Re: Dog Policy at SOAK
Tue, June 16, 2009 - 11:34 PMSure, go ahead and blame it on my dogs. I am the person solely responsible for dog moop. Or, do others buy their tickets other ways? My point was, make sure it's clear. That's all. I won't go if I'm designated dog mooper. Or better yet, I will. We Munkys like to fling that shit. LOL -

Re: Dog Policy at SOAK
Tue, June 16, 2009 - 11:45 PM<sigh> this was all a ploy to get you, Munky, and you alone to pick up all of the shit. It's true.
They are trying to say that: If (and only if) you are a dog owner who has brought a dog to SOAK that it would be good karma and IF (and only IF) you picked up other people's dog's shit IF (and only IF) they (the other dog owners) happened to miss what their dog did. Does that make sense? -
